UPDATE: No more searches scheduled for possible abducted teen in Dowagiac

DOWAGIAC, Mich. -- Dowagiac Police say no more searches are scheduled for a teenage girl who may have been abducted Wednesday night.

Around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, police were called to the 500 block of Riverside Drive. Juvenile witnesses told them they were playing in the parking lot and heard a woman yelling near the woods.

The witnesses told police they saw a white male pull the woman into the woods. He may have been armed with a handgun.

Police don't know the age of the suspect, but the witnesses say he had brown hair and was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with writing that might have said "Aeropostale."

The victim is described as a white female in her teens with blonde, straight hair. She was last seen wearing a pink zip-up sweater or sweatshirt.

Officers searched the area with K-9 units Wednesday night, but were unsuccessful. A tip overnight about a couple that matched the descriptions didn't produce any results. No children have been reported missing in the Dowagiac area.

Search teams from multiple agencies were called to Dowagiac to help. They combed the area until 1:50 a.m. and called the search off for the night.

On Thursday, the Dowagiac Fire Department searched the large wooded area near the scene of the reported abduction. They located nothing suspicious or out of the ordinary.

Another team of firefighters from Sister Lakes and Keeler Township searched an area near a gravel pit on Wilbur Road, south of Dowagiac. They also didn't find anything suspicious.

Officials are in contact with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) to determine if any records match the case.

Dowagiac Police said Thursday they've received no new tips or leads about the incident. If they receive information that requires a search, one will be organized immediately.

Police say anyone who has a family member or friend missing should call 911.
