A new program offered by an area college is like a breath of fresh air.

Some Ivy Tech-North Central students are celebrating the respiratory care program.

The new program will help shape future respiratory therapists.

At an open house today students showed off the new equipment and techniques they're using in their studies.

In the end patients will benefit from the top-notch training.

"They’re going to see the difference right away in the care their getting especially being trained with the state of the art equipment. Hospitals were having to fill the voids with agency personal and it's not the same as having your fulltime hire people were you have the dedicated training staff," says respiratory care program member, Susan Pearson.

Ivy Tech received a 288-thousand dollar grant to help develop the program.
