LAPORTE, Ind. -- A man was arrested following a stabbing that broke out during a fight at a LaPorte bar.

Joshua Tawney, 22, was taken into custody just before 3:30 Sunday morning at JJ's Sideout Bar and Grill on Park Street.

The victim told police he was outside when he heard yelling.

The bouncers were reportedly trying to get Tawney to leave when he picked up a grill and threw it, starting a small fire in a nearby parking lot.

The victim tried to help subdue Tawney, but Tawney started swinging a knife at bystanders.

The man was stabbed in the abdomen but refused treatment.

Tawney was found at a nearby apartment and is facing a charge of battery with a deadly weapon.
