Rock musician and producer Todd Rundgren is returning to Indiana University to serve as grand marshal of this year's homecoming parade.
The rocker taught a course at IU last year and has given Friday's homecoming parade the appropriate name of "Rocktoberfest." He'll ride in a convertible during the nighttime parade and speak during a pep rally at IU's Sample Gates.
Rundgren will then lead the Marching Hundred in a version of his hit "Bang the Drum All Day."
Rundgren was an instructor at IU last fall for a two-week stint with the Wells Scholars Program, delivering several lectures and taking part in question-and-answer sessions for IU classes.
Rundgren also wrote the song "Hello, It's Me" and was a sought-after producer in the 1970s for artists including Cheap Trick.
