An attorney for Dr. Conrad Murray says Murray's conviction for involuntary manslaughter in connection with Michael Jackson's death was disappointing.

Lawyer Ed Chernoff also says it will be appealed. Asked how the doctor took the jury's decision, Chernoff said, "he's a pretty strong guy."

It was a day of high drama in a Los Angeles courtroom, where one could hear a pin drop inside as the verdict was being read, and then a shriek, followed by cheers among jubilant Jackson fans gathered outside.

For the pop singing sensation's family members, it was an hour of relief, if not triumph.

His mother, Katherine, told reporters, "I feel better now." And sister La Toya said she was overjoyed, adding that "Michael was looking over us."

The 58-year-old doctor displayed no emotion at hearing the guilty verdict. He was led off in handcuffs after the judge denied him bail. Murray's sentencing will take place at the end on Nov. 29. He faces up to four years in prison.
