Joel Schipper sits down with Ellen DeGeneres on her set

You can catch her show every weekday here on WNDU at 4:00PM.

But there is more to Ellen DeGeneres than viewers see!

Our Joel Schipper had the rare chance to sit down with the star at her show in LA.

She's one of the biggest stars in Hollywood and for the past five years, Ellen DeGeneres has been making viewers laugh with her hit talk show. She's won Emmys for Best Talk Show and Best Talk Show host for the last four years and shows no signs of slowing down. Just last week she was nominated eight more times.

Joel had the rare opportunity to sit down with Ellen at her show in Los Angeles. The second you walk into the studios you know the fans are ready for a great time.

“I gotta say you guys have a fantastic audience, you really do!” Ellen told her fans. “Everyone says that and I feel the same.”

Michiana, you wrote the questions and Ellen has the answers...

WNDU: Allison Shelly from Mishawaka, what is your favorite song to dance to?

ELLEN: Right now, I mean it changes all the time but right now it's “4 Minutes”, it's Madonna and Justin's song, and that's right now so it changes, it'll change.

WNDU: Jeff Price from South Bend asked, you guys love rollarcosters, your favorite rollercoaster is?

ELLEN: Oh no I don't love rollarcoasters, I'm forced to do them when we go to Orlando and everyone wants me to do them. I like The Hulk though because I like the shooting out of the tunnel thing, I like that but then um, I really don't know I would ever do it again if we didn't have to do that, yeah.

WNDU: Sherry from Dowagiac wants to know who is the first person you made laugh?
ELLEN: I didn't know where you were going with that. (laughs). Am I red? Yeah, am I? The first person that matter to me was my mother. When I was, you know, my mother and father were divorcing when I was 13 and she was going through a hard time. I think that kind of guided me into this line of work because I realized I could change people's moods by making them laugh and I think it was my mom that lead me this way.

WNDU: Do you ever just wake up and think ‘I can't believe this is my life? Everyday you come and entertain 215 people here and millions at home, do you ever just want to pinch yourself?
ELLEN: I don't want to pinch myself that would be horrible but ah yeah, I feel grateful and my life is very,'s a wonderful life, it really is, I'm very grateful.

Joel has the final part of his interview with Ellen Friday evening on NewsCenter 16 at 5. Ellen tells Joel who she has always wanted on her show, but has yet to appear!
