One of the nation's biggest football recruits graduated early, planned to enroll early for the spring semester and maybe even play college hoops wherever he ended up--right away.
Instead lineman Arik Armstead is holding off on his decision, telling scout.com's Whitney Blaine that he felt he was "rushing" the decision.
Armstead will now wait until National Signing Day on February 1st to announce his college intentions. Because of that, he will not be enrolling early.
Notre Dame remains in the mix along with Auburn, Cal, Oregon and "maybe" some others, Armstead says.
Adding to the difficult decision is the fact that Arik's older brother Armond will transfer from USC and hopes to land at whatever school his brother is at. For now, Armond will remain at USC to take grad classes and then transfer after the spring semester. There's no guarantee the two will end up together at this point.
Armond and their father Guss spent Sunday and Monday at Notre Dame visiting. At one point they were at the Joyce Center, where they asked if they could possibly take a peak into the men's basketball locker room--more than likely hoping to do some scouting for Arik.
Despite being the top offensive lineman in the country, Arik told Blaine his intentions are to play on the defensive line no matter where he ends up. He says he's looking for a school where he can balance both football and basketball and get a good education.
