For the 31st time, a Notre Dame football player has been named a unanimous All-American. No other school in college football can claim as many.
Now, Golden Tate is the first receiver for the Irish to be named unanimous All-American since Rocket Ismail in 1990.
Golden Tate was named to the Associated Press and Sporting News 1st Team All American squad Tuesday. He’s the most prolific receiver in Irish history and accomplished that feat in only 3 years.
Tate ended his Irish career with over 2200 receiving. He is the winner of the Biletnikoff Award, which is presented to the nation's top receiver. He's the only Irish player to have ever won that award.
Golden had 17 scores in 2009, 15 by reception. He joined Jimmy Clausen as the team MVP for the past season. Tate equaled or surpassed 8 Irish team records in 2009.
Tate has declared for the NFL draft.
