Almost out of no where, Brian Billick's name came up last week during a CBS broadcast as a potential candidate to replace Charlie Weis as the Notre Dame football coach.

Apparently it was news to the former Ravens coach as well.

Billick, now a NFL analyst for Fox Sports, told WFAN's Boomer and Carton Friday morning that Notre Dame has not contacted him for the position.

He did say that Notre Dame was the one college job that could lure him back into coaching, but that he doesn't anticipate getting a call.

"I'd imagine Notre Dame is going to focus on the really sharp college coaches out there like a Brian Kelly or Gary Patterson," Billick said during the radio interview on New York City's top sports station.

"You tend to not hire what you just fired," Billick said. "And they just came through the NFL pro guy, so I'd imagine they are going to go back and tap into someone with some deep college roots."
