"We've got a bond that I will never have with anyone else," says Patrick Berry of his brother.

Patrick and his brother Tim from Iowa have shared a lot through their childhoods—bunk beds and a passion for Notre Dame football.

"I knew the fight song when I was three. I was one of those kids," Patrick says. "My dad went here and his dad went here so it was kind of in the family."

So when it came time to go to college, it was easy for Patrick. He’s now a student at Notre Dame and a member of the marching band.

"I've been watching every game since I was a kid. I've seen every Notre Dame football game. Me and my brothers used to play dress up and we'd dress up as Notre Dame football players. We had the gold helmets and everything."

But Tim is now wearing a different kind of cap. He’s a midshipman at the United States Naval Academy.

"He'll cheer for Notre Dame 364 days a year. But then there's that one day, that one game, he'll be cheering for the other blue and gold," Patrick says.

On Saturday, Patrick and Tim greeted one another in their respective uniforms—Patrick as a member of the Notre Dame band and Tim as a member of the USNA. It was a very touching moment for the brothers and their family. Mother, father and grandfather say they couldn’t be prouder of both of them.

"I think that this game is a very special game, if not one of the most special games in college football,” Patrick says. "Not only is the football game just a great game, and the rivalry a great rivalry, now it's got family ties for the family so it's going to be a real special time for all of us."
