St. Joe Bears head coach Elliot Uzelac is concentrating 100% on his team's rematch with Lakeshore on Friday night in the Division 3 Michigan High School football District championship game.

But he's also keeping tabs on what happens the next afternoon at Notre Dame Stadium.

The former Navy head football coach wouldn't mind seeing the Midshipmen pull off another upset of the Irish.

Uzelac remembers watching his former team beat Notre Dame in overtime two years ago for Navy's first win in the series in 46 years.

"I fell off my couch," Uzelac said Tuesday afternoon with a laugh just before starting football practice with his Bears.

"When Navy won, I was just thrilled for them because I know what those kids go through," he said. "I under the regimentation at the Naval Academy and it's a difficult days work--believe me."

Notre Dame was just 3-9 in 2007, but Uzelac says none of that really matters--because a win over the Irish is big regardless of record.

"For them to beat Notre Dame is a phenomenal, phenomenal effort and I'm pulling for them again this year. It would be wonderful if they can do it again."

Notre Dame-Navy is a 2:42 kickoff on Saturday at the Stadium. Countdown to Kickoff gets you started at 1:30.
