Tuesday in Washington, President Obama met with the man who is expected to be the next leader of China, Xi Jinping.
The President welcomed the Chinese Vice President to the White House Tuesday, calling the meeting a great opportunity to strengthen US-China relations.
Xi, who is expected to become China's Communist Party Leader later this year, said he hopes his visit will strengthen bilateral relations.
The President stressed the importance China has on the Global Markets, and its responsibility as it expands its power and prosperity.
President Obama explains the importance China has on the Global Markets, "We believe that a strong and prosperous China is one that can help to bring stability and prosperity to the region and to the world."
Tuesday President Obama and his Administration also pressured the up-and-coming leader on issues ranging from unfair trade to human rights.
And although Xi defended his countries widely-criticized human rights record, he also acknowledged there was room for improvement.
