In the wake of a Black Friday trampling death, Wal-Mart says it will work with local law enforcement to develop stronger safety measures.

The company says it's "saddened" by the death of a temporary employee last week at one of its stores in Long Island, N.Y. Wal-Mart says it's been in touch with the man's family to do what it can. The family has filed a wrongful-death lawsuit against Wal-Mart and the mall where the store is located.

The family's lawyer says lawsuits are also planned against Nassau County, N.Y., and its police department. The county says it has "no liability in situations of this kind."

Police are still reviewing store video to identify possible suspects in the man's death, but they say criminal charges are unlikely. The 6-foot-5, 270-pound man died of asphyxiation after being crushed by the Black Friday crowd.
