A snow day today means a make up day down the road, and area schools are starting to pencil in those days on the calendar already.
Mishawaka students will have to attend on their built in make up days, and add two to the end of the year. The last day of school will be May 30th.
At PHM, school officials had three make up days built into their schedule; but after calling their fourth for the year Monday, they’ll have to add another day. Students will have classes through May 30th.
South Bend School Corporation has not yet decided how they will make up their snow days.
Elkhart students have only had two snow days so far this year. They’ll attend class on April 21, and May 9; two of their three built in make-up days.
Delays will not have to be made up. Indiana state law requires schools hold a certain number of days each year.
Michigan law, however, requires a certain number of hours each year.
Niles has had four snow days and one delay. After 30 hours, they have to start making up time.
As it stands now, they won’t have to make up time, but one more snow day could change that.
