Just weeks removed from committing to Western Michigan, Leo Svete felt he was on top of the world.
Friday morning, he received devastating news.
Svete was told that he had torn his ACL and MCL and will miss his entire senior basketball season at Penn.
It happened at an AAU Tournament in Fort Wayne. Svete was going after a breakaway dunk and while coming down, his leg locked and he heard his knee pop.
"Honestly worst day of my career," Svete tweeted Friday morning. "#shocked."
By Friday night, Svete had talked to his coaches at Western Michigan, who gave him a pretty nice boost.
"They told me they loved me and I will be even better when I come back," Svete told NewsCenter 16. "They know how much I love the game and that this will motivate me to prove everyone wrong."
"They are great people," Svete said of the Western Michigan coaches. "I'm so happy with my decision."
Svete is certainly committed to continue to return better than ever next year.
