Marian's Jackson still feeling out process, but wouldn't mind being "Skylar" of ND men's hoops
When South Bend Washington's Skylar Diggins decided to go to Notre Dame, she became a superstar because of three key reasons: she's the hometown kid, she has incredible charisma and she's one of the best players in the country.
Mike Brey hopes the Marian's Demetrius Jackson can be his "Skylar."
Jackson has all the tools, it's just a matter of if he decides to play for the Irish. Brey and assistant Anthony Solomon have heavily recruited Jackson since he was a freshman.
Even though he continues to keep his options open (and he has a lot of options), Jackson wouldn't mind be the "Skylar" of the men's basketball program.
"I can definitely see myself in the same position with the effect she’s had on the whole program, whole community," Jackson told Jeffers. "It’s something special."
Jackson used to live across the street from the MLK basketball center that Skylar's Dad Mo Scott runs.
"I would always go over there and play with her when I was really young," Jackson said.
The two have definitely had conversations about the future and the possibility of Jackson coming to Notre Dame.
But the biggest question Jeff asked---could Demetrius beat Skylar in 1-on-1?
“I think now I believe I could," Jackson said with his big charismatic smile. "She’s tough, she’s tough. It would be a challenge for sure but I think I can."
Jackson has offers from Notre Dame, Kansas, Michigan State, Xavier, Memphis, Louisville, Butler, Florida State, Illinois and Michigan.
