Irish linebacker charged with misdemeanor intimidation

Posted: 2:24 PM May 16, 2012

St Joseph County prosecutors have announced charges against Notre Dame linebacker Carlo Calabrese.

Calabrese is charged with one count of intimidation, a Class A misdemeanor.

Police say while they were arresting quarterback Tommy Rees following a party last month, Calabrese told the officers, "My people will get you."

Court papers say Calabrese was restrained by his friends, but managed to break away.

An officer then ordered Calabrese to come to him and when he refused the officer grabbed him and placed him under arrest.

If convicted he could serve up to a year in prison, although that is highly unlikely.

Calabrese and Rees both have a court hearing Thursday morning. Rees' case is much more serious as he faces four misdeameanor charges, including battery, illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor and two counts of resisting law enforcement.
