Former elected Penn Township trustee, Jeff Dean, began serving a 90 day jail sentence at 8:00 a.m. on Monday.

Dean was sentenced in July. He was accused of hiring his girlfriend, Sarah Sharp, as an administrative assistant and then paid her for work she didn't perform between May 1, 2008 and May 7, 2010.

He says he "looked the other way" when she apparently overstated her hours.

Dean will serve 60 days in jail followed by 15 consecutive weekend stays.
