A 19-year-old Detroit area student faces weapons charges on accusations he brought a loaded handgun to school with him.
The Wayne County prosecutor's office says Robert Perkins of Inkster was arraigned Tuesday on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and possessing a weapon in a weapon-free school zone. He appeared in 20th District Court in Dearborn Heights.
Perkins didn't have a lawyer with him. The judge set bond at $130,000 and scheduled a preliminary May 16.
Perkins was arrested Monday after another student at Crestwood High School in Dearborn Heights reported seeing a loaded handgun inside a student's waistband. The second student told a teacher, and authorities at the school west of Detroit locked it down for a short time.
