Reporter: Associated Press

Governor Rick Snyder has signed a supplemental budget bill that includes money to train more state troopers and fight crime.

The measure includes $6.8 million to start a new Michigan State
Police trooper recruit school in June. The state plans to start with 132 candidates and aims to graduate 110 new troopers in October.

Also included in the bill signed Thursday is $3 million to help the city of Flint deal with a jail bed shortage by obtaining jail space from other counties.

To help in high crime areas of the state, the measure sets aside
$1.5 million to provide additional police assistance and $900,000
for additional prosecutorial services.

The state's rainy day fund got a $107 million deposit, but Snyder vetoed $10 million to cover some hospitals' uncompensated
care.
