Job fair brings more then 50 companies to IUSB
There is some hope for job-seekers in a tough employment market.
More than 50 companies were taking applications at a South Bend job fair Friday.
Company representatives filled the gym area at IUSB. Job-seekers got the chance to interact one-on-one with those that make the hiring choices.
Those in attendance were busy working the room filling out applications and handing out resumes
The fair was organized by Congressman Joe Donnelly's office.
"What we want to do is try to connect employers with employees because we hear from a lot of employers 'Hey, we have positions but we need to meet people that have the right skills for them,' and that's what this is for," Donnelly said.
Many of those looking for a job said that the fair helped streamline their search.
"It would take me like weeks to get around to as many companies as I am seeing today," said Claire Noble. "It is really convenient that you can go around from one table to the next. It is really great."
