Kenneth G owner enters guilty plea, ordered to pay restitution

A man who's made a living selling high-end jewelry was due in court today for a plea hearing on state charges.

43-year-old Kenneth Gaipa is the owner of Kenneth G rare coins in Mishawaka.

On his theft case, he plead guilty and was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $5,486.00.

On his welfare fraud case, the Judge dismissed his charges from the state, since he was already charged and sentenced for the same offense in federal court.

Last September during an investigation, a ring worth nearly 15-thousand dollars was found in Gaipa's possession, after being stolen and illegally sold to him.

He's also accused of receiving 64-thousand dollars in public assistance from Medicaid, but not qualifying for help. Gaipa was sentenced in May to 24 months in federal prison for charges separate from these state offenses.

He must report to prison by June 28th.
