Police close to catching man who tried to steal mo-ped
Police say they are close to catching the man who tried to steal a mo-ped in an alley in the 900 block of Harrison Street.
A man with a hoodie and a gun, decided to take a mo-ped parked in the alley behind Timothy Gramza's garage.
Gramza decided that wasn't going to happen, he stood up to the man. While Gramza was hit on the head twice with the gun, and fired at once, he refused to back down and the would-be-thief got away empty handed.
Now police say they are close to catching the would-be thief.
Phil Trent, South Bend Police, explains the next step for the police in the case, “We actually have a name and address for the person we're looking for. It’s just a matter of finding him. He's vanished but that never really works out that well. You can usually in short order track somebody down. Unless they leave the area, but even then you usually have a way of tracking them to different jurisdiction. In this case we don’t believe he has gone very far.”
No one was seriously hurt in the attempted robbery.
