Mayors' meet for the Mayors' Luncheon for Scouting Thursday
The leaders of three different Michiana cities came together to show their support for the Boy Scouts of America, and to announce their annual fundraising luncheon going on in just over two weeks.
Mishawaka Mayor Dave Wood, Elkhart Mayor Dick Moore, and Plymouth Mayor Mark Senter held a news conference Thursday to talk about the upcoming Mayors' Luncheon for Scouting. South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg will also be hosting the event next month.
The luncheon raises thousands of dollars every year for the Lasalle District Boy Scouts of America, which has served nearly 8,000 young people in the area for the past six years.
Also scheduled to be at the luncheon, an Irish Football Star who was an Eagle Scout himself growing up. Notre Dame All-American Linebacker Manti Te'o will talk about the importance of the scouting program, as the special guest speaker.
Mick Faloon, County Commissioner, Lasalle Council, explains how Boy Scouts sticks with a person, "I would believe that the eagle in him and he will always be an eagle, continues to influence his manner, his character his leadership abilities. And I'm thrilled to be able to meet him at the luncheon.”
This year's event will take place April 25 at the Windsor Park Conference Center in Mishawaka.
