Reporter: Associated Press

A man accused of hitting an openly gay Indianapolis teenager he recognized at a downtown Indianapolis mall because of media reports about him being expelled for bringing a stun gun to school to ward off bullies has been charged with misdemeanor battery.

The Indianapolis Star reports (http://indy.st/JBJeyG ) that 34-year-old Khyran Delay has been charged with striking 17-year-old Darnell "Dynasty" Young.

Delay told police he tried to talk to Young and said Young got in his face so he he pushed him. But Young and a witness said that as Young walked past delay, Delay told him to get away and used gay epithets, then pushed him and hit him in the face.

Delay was being held in the Marion County Jail and is scheduled
to appear in court Wednesday.
