Daniels names new group of Ind. teaching fellows
Posted: 1:12 AM May 15, 2012
Reporter: Associated Press

Gov. Mitch Daniels is touting a new group of academic fellows being groomed to teach math and science in Indiana's urban centers.

Daniels announced the 54 new Woodrow Wilson Indiana Teaching
Fellows on Monday. The group will focus on teaching "STEM" subjects: science, technology, engineering and math. Daniels says their work in Indiana schools after completing the program will show quick results.

Each fellow will complete a master's program at either Ball State University, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, Purdue University or the University of Indianapolis.

After graduating the program the fellows are placed in schools throughout the state. This year's group marks the fourth class of fellows since the program started. The group includes a mix of recent college graduates and professionals changing careers.
