Update: Error fixed in over half of impacted food assistance cards

As of Friday night, the error in many Michigan food assistance cards was corrected for over half of the affected recipients and their families.

Some 85,000 Michigan families were without their usual food assistance because of a human error on Thursday which incorrectly loaded some debit cards in the state.

The Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) is still trying to wholly resolve the issue, but announced Friday evening that nearly 55,000 of the impacted Bridge Cards were restored to working order.

Officials say the majority of affected cards will have money by Saturday morning, and expect all cards to be restored by 6 p.m. Saturday night.

Roughly 10-percent of the cards in the state were not loaded with the funds. Any clients with account numbers ending in "0" have not been not able to claim their assistance, Now because it is taking a longer time than expected to load the cards, DTMB says a small number of accounts ending in "1" will also be impacted on Saturday.
