South Bend police seek afternoon home invader

South Bend police are on the lookout for an invader who stormed into a living room in broad daylight, threatened the family with a gun, and made off with home electronics.

It happened at about 5:35 pm Saturday in the 1700 block of North Brookfield Drive near Keller, between Olive and Portage.

According to police at the scene, the visibly distraught family described the suspect as male, black, approximately 20 years old, well-dressed, well-groomed, with a darker complexion.

Police, who said they arrived on the scene just two minutes after the 911 call was dispatched, remained on the scene for over an hour dusting the front door for fingerprints, canvassing the neighbors for clues, and even checking out the scene with a K9 unit. So far, few additional facts are known.

Persons with information about the invasion should contact the South Bend Police department's non-emergency number: (574) 235-9201.
