The world got a one-of-a-kind look into a kidney transplant Wednesday when surgeons from Indiana University "live tweeted" the event.
IU Health used twitter to provide virtual play-by-play of a transplant between two friends.
Physicians answered questions from followers, and posted pictures of the surgery.
It was the first such "twittercast" in the state.
IU Health hopes the social media outreach will help raise awareness of the need for live donors for kidneys, which is the most in-demand organ for transplants.
