A new study finds the power of prayer can be a tremendous benefit to some people when they get a cancer diagnosis.

Researchers at the University of Wisconsin studied transcripts from 97 breast cancer patients who were part of an online support group.

Patients who wrote a higher percentage of religious words like prayer, worship, faith, and holy had lower levels of negative emotions than other patients.

The same people also had higher levels of functional well-being.

The study found prayer had the same effect for people no matter what religion they belonged to.
