Your purse goes with you almost everywhere you go. However, it could be picking up bacteria from all of those places.
Your handbag can be put anywhere during the day, from a bench, to the floor.
A recent check of the bottom of purses found some pretty serious bacteria on some of the purses.
Two of the purses even were carrying E.coli, which is somewhat surprising if you are someone who puts your purse on places like your kitchen counter.
"I don't think you would come home and put your shoes on your kitchen counter. So I think you have to use some common sense," explains Pathologist Benton Middleman.
It’s not too hard to protect yourself. One of the biggest things you can do is be aware of where you are putting your bag.
Also, keep anti-bacterial wipes inside your purse and wipe it down regularly.
