Though men are more likely to experience a traumatic experience, a new study finds women have a greater chance of developing post-traumatic stress disorder.
That information comes after a review of nearly 300 studies.
Researchers say there may be many theories for this.
One theory is that symptoms in men simply manifest themselves differently.
Another is that women are more likely to experience some kind of sexual abuse as a child.
That kind of trauma, combined with other stressful events later in life, could increase the risk for PTSD.
