Putting the Cigarette Butt Out for Good

Experts say all those anti-smoking messages are making a difference.
The number of messages keeps going up, and death rates just keep going down.

Experts say almost 150,000 lives have been saved because people are putting out their cigarettes.

Experts link the change to the growing number of anti-smoking campaigns.

Experts say dropping the smoking habit has prevented about 146,000 deaths among men between 1991 and 2003.

However, the number of cancer related deaths has not gone down for women.

Experts say this is because women start lighting up about 20 to 30 years after men and generally take longer to quit.
