Nexgen High Flex Implant Works With Women's Knee Joints

It is being called a revolutionary new medical treatment that will help women who suffer from knee pain.

The Nexgen High Flex Implant is designed to fit a woman's anatomy.

Orthopedic surgeons says there are key differences in men's and women's knees.

Until now, surgeons had to make a generic implant to fit over a women's knee joint. "This new replacement is different, it's all about the shape of the knee. What it does, it accommodates the shape of a woman's knee quite nicely," Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Dennis Sullivan said.

The procedure takes a little more than two hours.

Surgeons chisel off parts of the knee and drill holes to make the implant fit over the kneecap.

The implant is expected to alleviate pain and improve the range of motion for many female patients.
