It is crunch time for parents trying to toilet train their children.
Many nursery schools have potty training requirements.
Try explaining that to a typical 3-year-old.
So, is there a crash course, potty 101, in the final days before school starts?
Pediatrician Dr. Adam Aponte says no.
Dr. Aponte says one of the best things parents can do is simply be consistent. "Each day go through the exercise of using the bathroom. You want to praise the child when they are successful. But, you don't want to punish them or say anything bad when they are not."
Another piece of potty training advice is adults should not let themselves get too stressed out.
Children can pick up on that
Stress may make the process more difficult.
Also, be honest with your school about your situation.
Experts say often children will be motivated to potty train when they see their classmates going to the bathroom.
