Walmart will soon be offering its employees and customers a discount at the pharmacy counter.
Walmart officials announced on Thursday they will begin selling nearly 300 generic drugs at $4 a prescription, covering up to a 30-day supply.
The program will start on Friday in Tampa, and will be available throughout Florida by next year.
Walmart then hopes to expand the plan nationwide.
"Our plan here is to offer our customers and our associates a value and a way to get access to affordable prescription drugs," Executive Director of Walmart Bill Simon said.
On average, generic drugs cost $10-$30 for a 30-day prescription.
