On Sunday, Tom Brady looks to match Terry Bradshaw and his childhood idol Joe Montana for the most Super rings of a quarterback ever with four.
But before he became a megastar in the NFL, Brady was the quarterback at Michigan.
He didn't have the greatest college career, waiting his turn behind Brian Griese and then starting his final two seasons with Drew Henson also jumping in at times.
Brady was 1-1 against Notre Dame.
Thursday he was asked about the Notre Dame-Michigan rivalry.
"It's a great rivalry," Brady said. "Both have so many players that have come through those programs that have been successful in the pros and it's a game you always watch when it comes on in the fall."
The reporter than asked point blank, "how much do you despise Notre Dame?"
Brady gave a few 'uhms', then finally figured out a way to answer the question without making a major national headline.
"There's a long list of college teams between Notre Dame and Ohio State and Michigan State that you always want to beat," Brady explained. "Notre Dame is certainly one that if its on your schedule, you have to beat those guys because you know they are a good team."
Very diplomatic answer from the Patriots superstar quarterback.
