Authorities say a faulty electrical cable at Sawyer International Airport in Michigan's Upper Peninsula caused runway lighting to black out, forcing the diversion of two incoming flights.
The Mining Journal of Marquette and WLUC-TV report the lights went out Tuesday night on the runway at the airport near Marquette.
The flights were diverted Tuesday night. Crews worked Wednesday
to replace the cable.
Sawyer International Airport Manager Keith Kaspari says an American Eagle flight from Chicago was diverted to Green Bay, Wis. Those travelers were bused to Marquette in time for passengers to make any other flights. A Delta flight from Detroit was diverted to Escanaba.
