A 34-year-old Livingston County woman has been charged with first-degree child abuse and torture involving her young step-grandson.
Sara Rae Walters was arraigned Friday in Howell. She was ordered held on a $200,000 bond.
Sheriff's officials say doctors at the University of Michigan Hospital in October found the 3-year-old boy had suffered more than 60 different injuries, including blood on the surface of his brain. His core body temperature was 88 degrees.
The abuse is believed to have occurred at Walters' Oceola Township home. The charges against her came after a three-month investigation.
Walters was not represented by an attorney at Friday's arraignment.
