Authorities in southern Michigan say a firefighter in training is charged with arson in two fires last month that burned vacant homes.
The Battle Creek Enquirer reports 18-year-old Dillon Eaton of the Calhoun County community of Tekonsha was arrested Tuesday along with another man. Eaton is charged with arson and conspiracy to commit arson in fires the mornings of Jan. 26 and Jan. 28.
A message was left Thursday with attorney Jason Hagelthorn, who
indicated he expected to represent Eaton.
Eaton was a probationary member of the Tekonsha Township fire
department since Nov. 18. Chief William Burchfield says Eaton could
go to calls but not fight fires.
No injuries were reported, but the fires heavily damaged the homes. Eaton faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
