U.S. Marshals using information from Detroit police have arrested a man in California wanted in a double slaying reported by the 8-year-old daughter of one of the victims.
Detroit police spokesman John Roach says the 42-year-old man was arrested about 1:30 p.m. EST Friday near Los Angeles. A news conference is planned Friday afternoon in Detroit.
Monica Botello and her 26-year-old boyfriend, Purcell Carson, were shot to death March 1 in the basement of Carson's Detroit home.
Botello's daughter pleaded for help in a call to a 911 dispatcher, but the family was visiting the house and the girl didn't know the address and couldn't tell police how to get there. The girl eventually got the address from the front of the house.
