A 20-year-old man has been convicted of first-degree murder in the death of a restaurant manager in Lathrup Village.
Oakland County Circuit Judge Leo Bowman unsealed the jury verdict Monday against Deandre Sturges in the Oct. 15, 2008 slaying of 21-year-old Catherine Solinski-Blain of Waterford Township.
The jury reached the verdict Sept. 8, but the judge sealed it to avoid affecting the trial of 16-year-old co-defendant Jerome Hamilton.
Juries have deadlocked in two trials of Hamilton. A pretrial hearing for a third trial is set for Jan. 5.
Sturges faces mandatory life in prison without parole at his sentencing Jan. 12. A third suspect took a plea deal in exchange for aiding prosecutors.
