Theater producer Fred Nederlander says he's donating the proceeds of the Detroit opening of the musical "Jersey Boys" to a new cancer treatment fund honoring his late wife.
The Betty Nederlander Healing Fund will pay for cancer care at Beaumont Hospitals. She died in September of ovarian cancer.
The show opens Thursday at the Fisher Theatre.
The benefit also marks the launch of a $170 million fund-raising drive by Beaumont Hospitals for cancer and other clinical programs. Beaumont has hospitals in the Detroit suburbs of Royal Oak, Grosse Pointe and Troy.
