A southern Michigan man has been convicted of first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of his wife, who was killed on the day of their son's 10th birthday party.
After a break for Thanksgiving, a Branch County jury resumed deliberations Friday and declared Tom Foley guilty. He faces life in prison without parole.
Dee Dee Foley was a 41-year-old teacher in the Union City schools, 65 miles southwest of Lansing. She was shot in the head at her Girard Township home in February.
Tom Foley denied any role and told jurors that he and his wife got along well -- "like peas and carrots."
Prosecutor Terri Norris says Foley made several calls when his wife didn't appear at their son's birthday party but he never called home.
