Michigan governor, Biden to discuss high-speed rail
Lansing, MI Gov. Jennifer Granholm met with Vice President Joe Biden and Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood in Washington to discuss the prospects of building a high-speed rail lines in Michigan.

Gov. Jennifer Granholm met with Vice President Joe Biden and Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood in Washington to discuss the prospects of building a high-speed rail lines in Michigan.
Granholm says a high-speed rail corridor linking Detroit and Pontiac to Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Louis "will create jobs and reduce our country's dependence on foreign oil."
She also made a pitch to provide incentives for the rail cars to be built in Michigan, which has empty auto factories it's eager to turn to other uses.
The federal government plans to spend $13 billion on high-speed rail, including $8 billion from the Recovery Act. Governors from about half a dozen states attended the meeting.
