Authorities say a body was found in a burned-out car belonging to a missing Manistee County man.
The body discovered Tuesday night in Pleasanton Township wasn't immediately identified. Michigan State Police say medical officials will examine it.
Troopers from the Manistee post began looking for a 45-year-old Bear Lake man about 8:30 p.m. after relatives said he'd been missing about eight hours.
The car had struck a tree and had been destroyed by fire when it was found with a body inside at about 10 p.m. in Pleasanton Township, about five miles north of Bear Lake. The Traverse City Record-Eagle says troopers aren't sure if the crash caused the fire.
