It looks like some funny money found in Elkhart has made its way across the border into Michigan.

Cass County police are investigating counterfeit money being used at Hale's Hardware in Dowagiac. Police were called to the store after staff found a phony $100 bill.

After examining the cash, police determined it to be similar to those passed around in Elkhart.

Some things to remember when trying to tell the difference between real and fake: counterfeit bills are slightly darker and the green "100" number in the lower right corner should shift. Real bills shift from green to black, the fake ones are just green.

This latest incident is under investigation, along with those in Elkhart. Anyone with information on the counterfeit money is asked to call the Cass County Sheriff's Department, Elkhart Police Department or Crime Stoppers. The Crime Stoppers number for both Indiana and Michigan is 1-800-342-STOP.
