After losing a photo-finish to incumbent Joe Donnelly just months ago, Republican Jackie Walorski is looking for a rematch in Indiana's 2nd District congressional race.

Walorski first made the announcement on 16 Morning News.

"We are going to run again for the 2nd District of the U.S. Congress," said Walorski. "We're excited about getting our hat back in the ring."

Indiana will undergo a congressional redistricting process this year based on recent census results. The 2nd District could be re-drawn to favor the GOP, but Walorski says that didn't play into her decision.

"I really want to be out before those numbers are out because I am committed, really committed to fighting for this district, for jobs and to bring the debt down in this country."

The former state representative lost to Donnelly in November, due in part to the five percent of votes that went to Libertarian Mark Vogel. Walorski says she's learned a lot since then.

"You learn every time you do this. It's a benefit to meet hundreds of thousands of people, you really learn the issues of the district and you really learn what people are fighting for."

There are just over 600 days until the election. Walorski says she's going to work right away on campaigning.

Donnelly is up for re-election in the race, though he has been mentioned as a possible party choice to run for U.S. Senate or governor.
