The US Postal Service reports that billions were lost over the last quarter of 2011.
$3.3 billion was lost. That's $3 billion more in losses during the same three month period in 2010.
Declining mail volume and mounting costs for future retiree health benefits is hurting the post office.
Post office officials warn they may have to suspend some services, unless congress acts to help fix some of the organization's money problems.
