Students at Stanley Clark School had a big send-off Wednesday.
Their Science Olympiad team is headed to nationals.
The 15 students are on their way to the University of Wisconsin.
This weekend, they will be competing in 23 different events which cover everything from biology to chemistry and physics.
Members say it is thrilling to have the support of their fellow students.
Team member Emily Beach said, “I think it's so amazing because there are some times that we feel that, you know, some of our peers don't necessarily feel the same way we do about science, but to see everybody out here the same way just makes us feel like everybody has the same love. So it's pretty awesome.”
Head coach Dru Wrasse said, “I think it's just wonderful that academics and science can be celebrated in the same manner that we celebrate sports in this country.”
The University of Wisconsin says they expect more than 7,000 people at the competition this weekend.
